Although you may not think so, these grades are very important. It's the first years of them being in school, it's when the meet everybody and find their friends. It's when they learn how to play nice, read, and write. It's when they learn rules.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. Now lets get to teaching.

                     Reading

                       Writing

  • Read every night with your children. Make sure it's an interesting book.
  • Make them read two books a week. Reward them, but slowly start taking the reward away.
  • Get them involved with reading! Send them to fun summer reading camps! Like DR. Seuss summer camps.
I have made a fun little passage. Get the little ones to read it and answer questions. I have made an answer key tab.

Today is the first day at school.

Susie is very happy. When Susie

gets to school, she sees a lot of kids.

She finds a nice looking girl and sits

next to her. She is also 5. She says her

name is Maria. They talk. She is very

pretty. Susie has just met her first

friend. During nap time, Susie and Maria lie next to each other. During play time, they come up to a girl because she looks lonely. Her name is Alissa. They play dominoes with each other. They all like dominoes. At the end of the day, Susie gets on the bus and goes home. Susie had the best day ever!

  • Have them write a couple sentences a week.
